Usage_Mode: command line

SAS_Release: xmmsas_20020605_1701 - aka 5.3.3

Task_Version:

Type: report a nuisance

Title: emchain warnings

Description: When running emchain on OBSID=0111281801 (orbit 0478) I get the
following warnings:

EMFRAMES:
** : warning (TemporalOverlapInAHF), Temporal overlap of 0.5s between AHF
entries 368 (2002-07-19T09:50:37.999) and 369 (2002-07-19T09:51:59.999) -
adjusting duration of entry 368 accordingly

** attcalc: warning (TemporalOverlapInAHF), Temporal overlap of 0.5s between AHF
entries 368 (2002-07-19T09:50:37.999) and 369 (2002-07-19T09:51:59.999) -
adjusting duration of entry 368 accordingly

** attcalc: warning (outOfImageRange), 4922 events ( of 22708 ) out of range
of image
CMD: emenergy ineventset=event04.out -w 10

Also at the end of emchain:

** evselect: warning (NoInputEvents), Input table contains no events.

I am not sure about the meaning of these warnings and whether I should ignore
them. Please note that I only get these warnings with the specific OBSID. Also
this OBSID has
no PN data delivered.

Dear Dr. Georgakakis,

I have been examining the errors you report when running emchain on
your data. First, as you say, you have not received PN data for this
observation. The reason for that was the failure of the field
acquisition. The PN exposure was scheduled at 09:15, but it when the
field acquisition was finally made, it was too late to configure the
instrument.

As for the warnings, please note that they do not represent usually a
serious error condition, and that they are only for information. They
can be most of the times safely ignored.

** attcalc: warning (TemporalOverlapInAHF), Temporal overlap of 0.5s
** between AHF entries 368 (2002-07-19T09:50:37.999) and 369
** (2002-07-19T09:51:59.999) - adjusting duration of entry 368
** accordingly

Not important, just a small time adjustment in the attitude history
file.

** attcalc: warning (outOfImageRange), 4922 events ( of 22708 ) out of
** range of image

This is just for information. Some events are discarded because of
being out of the image (X,Y) range.

** evselect: warning (NoInputEvents), Input table contains no events.

This errors appears when the so-called "flare" light curve is created.
This table can be used to filter the observation with periods of low
background. In this particular case, the background rate is higher
that the threshold during all the observation, and therefore no filter
is performed on th event file.

I hope this answers your questions. Should it not be the case, please do not
hesitate to contact us again.

Regards,
